Como-Harriet Streetcar Line

All summer long, I have wanted to take the kids on the Trolley that is by Lake Harriet.  Well, it was the last week of summer and I still hadn’t gotten to it.  So one cloudy day, we decided it was time.  Princess Pea was at the movies with a good friend, so I thought I would take the others and try it out.

I could review our experience.  Rate if the $2 was worth it.  Enjoy some quality time!
It seemed like a win-win situation.

Except when we got there, we needed to wait 20 minutes before it opened.  I decided that we could walk to Heartfelt and do their free Sidewalk Saturday craft and connect with Lisa again. (we had both been on vacation).  Dash was NOT happy with this decision.  He wanted to stay and wait for the trolley.

Looking back on it, we probably should have.

The walk itself was 20 minutes.  We enjoyed seeing all the big houses and meeting a Golden Retriever puppy.  By the time we got to Heartfelt, it had started to rain.  We sneaked into the shop, enjoyed our brief visit, and went back out into a slightly heavier sprinkle.

As we walked in the rain, we tried to enjoy it.
We walked past this church and thought it was beautiful.

We continued walking until we could see the train tracks.  Still a block away, we saw the trolley! How exciting.  We made it to the station and this is what we saw.

There was a sign that said due to the weather the trolley rides were suspended.
We insisted that the rain would stop and the trolley would be back.  We decided to hang out.
For 30 minutes, we waited under the awning of the station.  When the rain let up, we ventured out onto the tracks and the sidewalks.

Ultimately we left without a trolley ride.  We needed to be home when Princess Pea came back.
Even though they were disappointed, they were great sports!  They were able to enjoy the tracks and running around in circles.

They got soaking wet!  This made Wordgirl cold and unhappy, but this unprepared mom actually had sweatshirts in the car from another event.  I had just never taken them out!

Score 1 for Mom who doesn’t want to deal with the van.
Score 0 for Mom who tries to keep things neat.

So I can’t tell you how awesome the Trolley rides are, but I can tell you that the station is kind of fun!
