Road Trip Adjustments

The Sunday Star Tribune had an article today about roadtripping to Niagara Falls from Minneapolis.

Well, yes sirree!

We just happen to be doing that in 2 weeks. (Well, practically anyway.)

This article has enlightened me even a little bit more so that we can make this experience.

First of all, I think  that we need to plan  some longer stops.  We’ve already unintentionally planned that a little.  Our first day of driving will take us to Chesterton Indiana which is just on the other side of Chicago.  But we will be spending 2 nights there with family.  This is one of the most exciting parts of the trip.

But beyond their house: There must be things along the way we will want to see, right? What can we do in Cleveland?  What is there in Toledo to see?  We will be traveling near South Bend, Indiana.  Do we want to see what is there to do?

How can we slow down the pace and still get to our destination in time for the kids to swim and unwind?

Are there any cool places we want to stop at eat at?  Maybe just one time each day?Once we get to Buffalo NY, what can we expect to find?

The second thing that I’m thinking about is how can we entice the kids to try to enjoy the ride without bringing a bazillion things to do in the car.  We will have our dvd player and music for each of the kids.  We have a leapster and a kindle for the kids to use and I will be borrowing Adventures in Odyssey to play in the car.  They love these stories.  Both grandma’s have made it a priority to provide car games for the kids.
