Catchy Title? AAAHHH! I can’t stand the pressure!

Pressure
According to dictionary.com , it means
1.the exertion of force upon a surface by an object, fluid, etc., in contact with it: the pressure of earth against a wall.

2.Physics. force per unit area. Symbol: PCompare stress (def. 6).

3.Meteorology. atmospheric pressure.

4.Electricity. electromotive force.

5.the state of being pressed or compressed.

6.harassment; oppression: the pressures of daily life.

7.a constraining or compelling force or influence: the social pressures of city life; financial pressure.

8.urgency, as of affairs or business: He works well under pressure.

9.Obsolete. that which is impressed.

–verb (used with object)

10.to force (someone) toward a particular end; influence: They pressured him into accepting the contract.

11.pressurize.

I’ve been feeling pressure lately.  And not just any kind of pressure.  I have been feeling at least 3, if not 4, of these definitions.

“In the state of being pressed.”
Literally:  my superstars like to sit on me and smash me like a pancake.
It might not be so bad if my stomach had a few more muscles–by that I mean at least ONE toned muscle–that wouldn’t smoosh itself under the weight of my skin-crawling superstars.

“Harassment.”
If Wordgirl says my name ONE MORE TIME,  so help me!  I can be staring right at her for 30 seconds, but she will continue to say, “Mama?  Mama.  Mama!  Mama? Mama.  Mama!”
“WHAT IS IT?  I’M LOOKING RIGHT AT YOU!”
If that isn’t the definition of harassment, I don’t know what is.

“A constraining or compelling force or influence.”
I have been feeling guilty because I need to play with my superstars!  I know one day they will be all grown up and they won’t want to play with me like they do right now.  This compelling force is driving me to insanity, though!  If I am constantly playing with my superstars, when do I feed them?  Which leads me to my next point.

“Urgency, as  of affairs or business”
If we don’t eat before 6:00 pm, Dash goes into major meltdown mode!
MAJOR.  MELTDOWN MODE!
Again, I must say I am not exaggerating. (I know you believe that I am, but I’m not).
It’s like from 4:00-6:00 we have to be constantly feeding this little animal so that we can be a normal functioning family, but if we feed him too much, THEN he won’t eat supper.

Soooo, I feel the pressure to play with my superstars to the point of not feeding them, but if I don’t have food ready to go before the allotted time, I feel the pressure to fix that problem.

Oh, and don’t forget, I still haven’t given Fourdatzky a Non-Comic Book Superhero name.
Definition #9 –“that which is impressed.”
Names say a lot about someone and a nickname even more so!

Struggling with how to pay for a healthy diet?
Join me starting June 21–the first day of summer–in shifting my focus from MY weight management/loss goals to worshiping the Almighty God with my health and fitness.

you crack me up! i'm totally a word nerd and used to write out dictionary definitions like this in all sorts of random ways but i hadn't thought of connecting them to my life and blogging…i like it! and i can so relate with the pressure thing. i'd say my number one label on my blog is “balance” and lack thereof…always striving to put things in the right proportions and values and behavior in sync…live with integrity, act on my beliefs, etc…i'm intrigued by the healthy body campaign only i have to start NOW to make it to my 20 year high school reunion july 17…enjoy following you in so many ways…

  2. Amanda says:

I laughed out loud at the ONE muscle comment… ha! I feel the same way! 🙂

  3. Taylor says:

Time management is what keeps me from being fit!

  4. Wow… that is a lot of pressure!!! You need some serenity now! :o)

Time constraints and “want to” are my biggest stumbling blocks to keeping healthy…

  5. Love your June 21 thing. That is awesome!!!
That might effect the one muscle thing, eh? *grin*

As for the guilt about feeling like you always have to be playing with your kiddos?
    Let.it.go.
Play with them. Yes! But when it's taking you to the point of insanity, you need to take a break. You'll play with them better if you also take time for yourself.
    Without the guilt feelings.
    Promise me you'll try?

    Love you!

  6. Bren says:

I would love to join you on June 21. I always say I need to take care of my 'spiritual health' before my 'physical health' so this would be a great journey to start. I can come over and lift up your kids (once I am well) for weight lifting and serving others which is something I am trying to work on right now, the serving not the weight thing.

  7. Jenny Aust says:

It is true! I have kiddos just like yours. Sammy is constantly saying “Mommy, Mommy, Mommy” like a million times!! And Caleb COMPLETELY goes into shut-down mode when he doesn't get food RIGHT NOW! Some day…oh some day we will miss this!

Oh, and I LOVED the definitions! I am an English teacher you know! : )

  8. Laura says:

Hey, about the church thing again-that is SO weird! Confusing, huh? I don't see why they couldn't at least open the door, talk to you, and see what was going on. I don't think that's too much to ask.

Oh, and I emailed you my address. Did you get it? Did I send it to the wrong email or something? Hope not! Just hit me back and let me know. I'll be happy to resend you my contact info then. Have a great day, and talk to you soon!
