a christmas gift from mcdonald’s lady

(yes, our house is almost ALWAYS this messy)

this morning at home wasn’t difficult the whole time, but it wasn’t super easy either. it’s weird. but it’s the life of a mama of three, ages 4 and under. at 11:00, we went to the grocery store. the superstars did FANTASTIC! and to change things up a bit, i told them that we would go to mcdonald’s. so we did. the girls asked if we could eat IN mcdonald’s. i made them a deal. if the restaurant was really busy, we would get it to go and eat at home, but if it was fairly empty we would eat there.
it was fairly empty.
i had made a promise.
so we parked and i got out of the van and proceeded to get the superstars out. getting the kids out of the van is fairly routine for everyone now. there was no reason for me to worry or get stressed. and i DIDN’T! seriously, mark this date on your calendar!
the supergirls held hands across the parking lot like they always have to do when i am holding dash, and this time they did it without any complaining at all! it was great!
we got to the door and this really nice lady opened the door for us.
she had come out specifically to open the door for us to help us in.
and today, i wasn’t even struggling!
seriously, i was NOT in a huge need of help.
but it was the nicest thing ever.
because that lady held open the door for me, i was able to enjoy my superstars even that much more! i was able to stay relaxed and speak kindly and eat freely with my superstars.
i don’t know if that lady understands the gift she gave me.
the gift of helping me to enjoy my superstars!
she came up later to compliment me on how i was treating my kids.
and told her, “for THIS moment.”
and she said, “well, even if there are only a few of those moments in life.”
i cut in, “it makes it worth it, doesn’ it.”
it was only later that i realized that it was because of that lady’s small gesture of kindness.
i wish i knew who she was, i would totally sent her a thank you card (one of my favorite things ever to do). but i think it’s better that i didn’t know her. that way, i was able to really enjoy my superstars and not try to talk to my friend.
thank you mcdonald’s lady! it is the best christmas present i’ve ever received!
