since chris’s dad just had surgery approximately two weeks ago and is recovering nicely, chris’s mom decided to proceed with her visit up north with just her and left the recovering grandpa at home to heal. (or at work to heal depending on the day)
it was fun to watch the kids enjoying grandma. at one point, brin did NOT want mommy. only grandma would do.
she arrived on wednesday night right before maya and i had to leave for cubbies. but it ended up being okay. she got to spend some quality grandma-hogging time with brin.
on thursday, she got to spend about 3 hours or more with dane alone because chris brought the girls to a birthday party (brin’s first i might add–and it was a drop off party–well for my kids anyway–megan got pictures, and i am going to get them when i can). on friday, grandma watched all the kids in the morning, while chris and i went to an appointment. that afternoon, she and i took the kids for this ridiculously long walk. i don’t know why i thought that it would be that far. and for some reason i didn’t think there were hills except that there were some BIG ones. apparently, i don’t know my own neighbor very well. (then i went for a run and i ran all the way to my friend christy’s house which is a mile there and a mile back=2 miles!). THEN, we went for another walk to the park that evening which ended up being another mile total. i have been sore for 2 days.
saturday, we got the bouncer out for the girls to jump in and then ate mcdonalds in a park. it was freezing so it was easy to convince the kids that they couldn’t play on the playground. brin didn’t have her shoes either. it was a bit spur of the moment. it was super cute though because maya wore grandma’s fleece and after she started calling it a robe, she LOVED it. before that–not so much. she liked the way it flowed behind her when she ran.
but mostly, grandma got to cuddle with the kids and read to them and spend time with them.
it was really special for everyone!

I love it when my kids get to spend time with their grandparents (especially my parents). It’s a very special bond…grandparent and grandchild…
