I can’t believe it!

This Thursday! I can’t believe something actually happened today! I really didn’t think it would!

Okay, so I sit at the front desk of the clinic I work for. Today at approximately 11:00, 2 people walked into our clinic dressed completely in black! Faces included! My first thought was, “They are going to shoot us!” And then I thought, “We don’t have the training to deal with situations like this!” I couldn’t breathe very well. I was honestly so scared! I looked to my co-workers to rescue me from this situation. No one moved or even acknowledged them, so I just carefully smiled and said, “Hi?” Meanwhile, Jamie, my co-worker, was freaking out because she thought we were going to be held up, too! Our hearts were pounding!
It turned out to be 2 muslim women (a mom and her 16 year old daughter), and the daughter had an appointment today. I know they are very strict in their beliefs, but I was not expecting to see that. And I am not trying to be disrespectful. Have I mentioned that I work in the ghetto? So when you see someone covered completely from head to toe and you aren’t in a very good part of town, the first thought is that you are going to die!
I guess one of the nurses walked in the back and announced to the other nurses very matter-of-factly, “Well, we’ve got 2 ninjas in our waiting room.”
I think we may need some training in potentially dangerous situations. This was NOT luckily, but it sure makes me want some guidelines!
We’ve come up with some ideas. One of them being Stop, Drop, and Roll. There might be some unforeseen problems with that, though. The other thought we had was that we would have Rachel, yet another co-worker, distract the dangerous people and the rest of us RUN for our lives! She could distract them with a movie or some snacks or giving them parking validations! The possibilities are endless!

Just pretend like you’re too ditzy to know you’re in danger, “Sir, I’d be happy to help you with your problem, but like you’ve got to fill out these forms like in triplicate before we can serve you.” That kinda thing always works in the movies! What could possibly go wrong?-Rob
